Why We Need Your Support
In spring of 2026 Keep McIntosh Beautiful (KMB) partnered with UGA Extension Master Gardeners to install a community garden at the Ida Hilton Library. Phase I included beautification along the front of the building by installing new ornamental plants and raised beds filled with annuals and perennials. Phase II established the vegetable garden and outdoor classroom at the back of the building. For our next round of improvements, we would like to improve the outdoor classroom space. This would include but is not limited to additional seating, a small tool shed, hand tools for a class of at least 15 (trowel, rake, pruners, kneeling pad, and gloves), round point shovel, square point shovel, bow rake, garden hoe, pop-up tent, instructor's table, and water cooler. This community garden is for all community members to enjoy. It is maintained by the Master Gardeners and KMB staff. The outdoor classroom space will be used to provide gardening and other outdoor educational programming for children and adults alike.
