Why We Need Your Support
C.C.A. Baldi Middle School is one of the most diverse schools in all of Pennsylvania. This means that there are so many different languages spoken here. Chinese, Ukrainian, Hindi, Arabic, Georgian, Spanish, Albanian, Armenian, Hebrew, Greek, Korean...the list keeps going. These kids come in frustrated at first. They are scared. They are in a new country, new language and new school. They will observe whats around them for months and copy what the teacher and the students are doing. It takes time for English language learners to get confidence and start trying on their own.
This is why we are proposing raising money for iPads in the English Language Learning classroom.
With iPads, students will have more access to technology and apps that will help support their learning. For instance, GOOGLE TRANSLATE provides instant visual translations in 27 languages when using the APP on the iPad. All they have to do is point the iPad's camera at the text in question, wait a little bit, and then watch Google translates it for you on the spot. This is such a helpful feature for the students and the teachers at the school. The students will be able to practice skills in both their mainstream classroom and ESOL classroom.
